Hundreds of Region 3 residents were, on Sunday, assured of house lots by the end of June. This will bring to an end to several years of waiting for land allocation after making their initial application.
More than 1,000 persons attended the sixth government outreach held at the National Track and Field Centre, in Edinburgh, West Coast of Demerara. Many had arrived as early as 05:30hrs to be the first in line at the Central Housing and Planning Authority’s (CH&PA) booth.
Info Hub took the opportunity to speak with several persons who expressed their appreciation to the government for bringing their services to the people.
“It was a long time I applied for my land, since 2013, and today will give me the opportunity to finally get a one on one interaction with a senior official which I a praying will provide me with my heart’s desire, which is my land,” an applicant said.
CH&PA’s CEO, Lelon Saul said persons who have applied for house lots will be documented and contacted via telephone within two months when there are house lots available.
“We have 500 house lots at Meten-Meer-Zorg, WCD for applicants and these plots of land will be going within the low and middle-income bracket. It is our priority that we meet the pockets of everyone, we will be satisfied once persons who would have applied, especially those who would have applied for more than a decade are allocated land.”
According to Saul, given the magnitude of the number of persons who attended today’s outreach and the inability to service all present, another outreach will be held by the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) on Thursday from 10:00hrs to 17:00hrs. The exercise will prioritise more than 400 persons who were asked to return to have their issues addressed.
However, several satisfied applicants expressed their appreciation for the information and service received at the exercise, noting that they will eagerly await the allocation of their land within the next two months.
