Bids now open to build access roads to three landfill sites

The government is advancing its sanitation and infrastructure programme with the planned construction of access roads to landfill sites at Blairmont in Region Five, 10 Miles in Region Seven and Bon Success in Lethem, Region Nine.

The Ministry of Local Government and Regional Development is accepting bids for the construction of the thoroughfares. Bidders are required to submit their proposals to the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board by April 15, 2026.

This project aligns with the government’s pledge to build access roads and improve waste management systems.

In addition, roads will be constructed soon in Zorg-En-Vlygt, Laurentia Catherina, Lusignan, Zorg-en-Hoop, Manarabisi, and Mabura/Rockstone.

A total of $7.9 billion was budgeted in 2026 to pursue a comprehensive approach to solid waste management, with a particular focus on strengthening local-level management.

The government has already deployed compactor trucks to Regions One, Two and Four.
