DPI, Guyana, Tuesday April 16, 2019

Government Ministers began arriving at State house in New Amsterdam, Berbice from as early as 9 am this morning. First to arrive was Minister within the Ministry of Natural Resources, Simona Broomes.

She told our Department of Public Information (DPI) team that government holding cabinet out of the capital city, Georgetown, was within its mandate, and that this well be extended to other regions.

“It is brilliant, it is just keeping in what we say “we are a government for the people” …” we just don’t only sit down in Georgetown… government goes around the country,” stated Minister Broomes.

Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo, who is performing the duties of Head of State said it is always good to be home. He noted that many of the members of parliament have roots in East Berbice-Corentyne.

“Many citizens here are responsible for those very MP’s being in Parliament,” Prime Ministet Nagamootoo noted.

He said though this is the first cabinet meeting in this region, it is not the first meeting held in Region Six as government has been on the ground.

Following the cabinet meeting, government ministers will join their various ministries and agencies at the University of Guyana Berbice (Tain) Campus for the Government Comes to you” outreach.

Government’s next outreach will take place in Region Five.
