‘Confidence Walk’ kicks off Region 2’s  Mash celebrations

– Region’s  Children’s Mashramani Competitions for Monday, Wednesday and Friday of next week

DPI, Guyana, Saturday, January 26, 2019

The Regional Administration of Pomeroon-Supenaam Region Two held a ‘Confidence Walk’ from Lima Pump Station Street to Anna Regina today.

Leading the walk was the Guyana Defence Force and scores of Essequibians from across the region, including members of the Region Two Tourism Association, the Essequibo Technical Institute, members of the business community and staff of the Regional Administration.

The participants briskly departed the starting point at 06:00hrs while officers of the ‘G’ Division of the Guyana Police Force served as marshals. Addressing the patrons at the end of the walk was Regional Executive Officer Denis Jaikaran who congratulated all for their participation.

“This walk ties in to the Ministry of Public Health’s agenda which is to promote a healthy society through exercise. It signifies the victory of our people for we have assembled at one point even though we came from different villages, social standing and religious backgrounds and completed a journey together as a family of fit citizens. It shows that despite our differences, together we can achieve success through hard work and determination. Let me congratulate all of you as we begin our Regional Mashramani 2019 celebrations. Region Two is going places and those who don’t want to join this big family will surely be left behind,” remarked Jaikaran.

While the Nursery Schools in Region Two have completed their segment of Mashramani on Tuesday, January 22, REO Jaikaran announced that the remaining events in the Children’s Mashramani Competition will be held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of next week. (See table below for details of Region Two Mash activities).

This year’s theme is “Celebrate 49 with Victory in Mind – Rediscovering El-Dorado,”
