The Ministry of Finance has planned several activities for its Health Week 2019, beginning today with a Fitness Walk and Exercise Session.

The walk commenced at 06:30hrs from the Ministry of Finance Compound on Main Street, Georgetown, with Minister Winston Jordan leading his staff down Lamaha street to the National Park and back to the ministry’s compound.

Minister Jordan explained briefly that the fitness walk begins the ministry’s week of activities, which focuses on health issues affecting both men and women.

“You know, we at the Ministry of Finance do things differently. When I came into office four years ago, I thought of health week, because you know a healthy staff will be more productive,” the minister related.

Satisfied with the staff’s turn out, especially on a Sunday, the Finance Minister noted:

“This shows their commitment to a better lifestyle… We try to do it in a fun way, but health issues are very important… There are a number of activities throughout the week; every day there will be something different,” Minister Jordan stated.

He underscored that this week is a catalyst to have the staff look at bettering their health through talks on health issues such as diabetes, heart diseases and hypertension, among others. Discussions will also be held on interpersonal relationships, ‘How to Work on Yourself’, ‘Managing your Money’ and more.

To conclude the week of activities on Friday, there will be a games and karaoke in the evening.
