Five new COVID-19 cases

9 more admitted to institutional quarantine

The number of COVID-19 cases has increased by five as the Ministry of Public Health is reporting that the total for confirmed cases now stands at 278.

As of July 6, 2020, the country has registered 121 recoveries and 15 deaths.

There are currently 142 active cases in isolation at various facilities across Guyana and with nine more persons admitted to institutional quarantine the total now stands at 19. There are currently 10 patients in the COVID-19 ICU.

To date, 2,889 tests have been conducted with 2,611 of those being negative.

Persons are again reminded to continue practising social distancing in the workplace, public spaces, and while using public transportation to reduce the spread of the coronavirus disease. They are also reminded to practise frequent hand washing/sanitising and always wear a face mask if they have to go out.

As of July 6, 2020, the WHO is reporting that globally the confirmed cases stand at 11,327,790 with 532,340 deaths. While in the Regions of the Americas, positive cases now stand at 5,820,840 with a total of 265,024 deaths.
