GCCI & M&CC Renew MoU
The Mayor and Councillors of the City of Georgetown (M&CC) renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at the City Hall.
The Mayor of Georgetown, His Worship, Ubraj Narine, and President of the GCCI, Nicholas Deygoo-Boyer, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations.
The agreement is intended to strengthen cooperation between the two entities as they seek to collaborate on municipal and corporate development within the boundaries of the city.
The MoU stipulates that the GCCI and the M&CC will cooperate on several thematic areas, namely, general rates, public security within the city, building codes, building bylaws, safety regulations for construction procedures, infrastructure development, environment (inclusive of garbage collection and public health), public education, information sharing, training and capacity building.
The M&CC and GCCI and the GCCI have also agreed to meet once every two months.
The MoU will be enforced from the day of its signing and shall be valid for of one year.
