Govt extends congratulations to Golden Jaguars

Last Saturday, the Guyana Golden Jaguars made history by qualifying for their first major tournament, the CONCACAF Gold Cup, after defeating rivals Belize two goals to one in a thrilling match.

Congratulations were today extended to the team by the government for accomplishing a feat that had always eluded the country. The compliments were relayed by Minister of State Joseph Harmon at the Cabinet Press Briefing.

He reported that “Cabinet welcomed the delightful news that the Guyana Golden Jaguars had advanced to the CONCACAF Gold Cup competition for the first time.” Minister Harmon said that Cabinet requested that its “congratulations be conveyed to the management and members of Guyana Jaguars team and noted the surge of national pride that their achievement had engendered across the nation.”  The government wished the team continued success on their quest for the gold cup.

The CONCACAF Gold Cup is a biennial international men’s football championship played by North America, Central American, and the Caribbean regions. The tournament begins on June 15, 2019, and runs until July 7, 2019, in host countries Costa Rica, United States and the Caribbean among 16 countries.
