Scores of Region 5 residents patiently awaited their turn at the government outreach held at the Fort Wellington, Regional Democratic Council (RDC) office.

Many were visibly relieved as the officials at the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) listened to issues raised and resolved them on the spot. Some of the applicants who would have applied for the house lots more than a decade ago, expressed their satisfaction at the outreach.

The Department of Public Information (DPI) took the opportunity to interact with several applicants who commended the services offered at CH&PA and urged the government to endorse similar such exercises.

“I am happy, I feel good that I did not leave my daily chores for nothing, this outreach serves a purpose,” said one of the applicants.

“I never got the opportunity to the visit Housing [Department] since I am a sickly person but the fact that they are here in my community, I decided to come out and I am satisfied because the community officers attached to the ministry were readily available to address my land issue,” another resident stated.

Minister within the Ministry of Communities, Valerie Adams-Yearwood stated that the Region 5 outreach comes with a difference.

“We have a lot of land applications and titles that persons need to uplift, we will be working assiduously to ensure persons leave here with there house lots. There is land available at Experiment, West Coast of Berbice (WCB) and constructed two-and three-bedroom houses with land cost going at $500,000.”

She also highlighted that the lands available range from $500,000 to $700,000 and reiterated that persons interested in the houses at Experiment, WCB can pay for it through the bank while those interested in land can make payment to the CH&PA.

The minister further stated that her agency is preparing to deliver positive service to the residents of Region 3 and 10 in the upcoming ‘Government comes to you’ outreach.
