‘Mackee’ turns 104

DPI, Guyana, Saturday, April 14, 2018

Helena Maude McAllister is 104 years old and going strong. On Saturday, April 14, a birthday celebration was hosted in her honour and as usual, her former student, Minister of Public Health, Volda Lawrence was there to celebrate with her.

During the gathering of a few family members and friends, the celebration was observed with reflections of the indelible mark McAllister has left in the lives of many throughout the years. Minister Lawrence presented a token on behalf of President David Granger to her former teacher.

Mrs. McAllister, a businesswoman, former Sunday-School teacher and a devoted Christian along with her husband, Mr. Hilton McAllister, managed the Mac’s Secretarial School, where Minister Lawrence began her accounting career.
