Min. Trotman meets New Amsterdam residents

In an effort to meet the populace at the grassroots level, Minister of Natural Resources, Hon. Raphael Trotman and Members of Parliament, Hon. Donna Mathoo and Hon. Barbara Pilgrim-Bhagot met with residents of the New Amsterdam, East Berbice-Corentyne area, once again,
During the engagement on Friday, November 8, residents voiced their concerns, opinions, and made recommendations about issues affecting them.
The gathering was addressed firstly by MP Pilgrim-Bhagot regarding changes that have been made so far in the region – namely the east bank public road and the progress of the Esplanade Recreational Park.
In his remarks, Minister Trotman observed that there has been a tremendous amount of improvement in the region. With specific regard to the imminent production of oil, the minister assured that the government will be utilising resources garnered from this sector to improve further the necessary services provided to the regions across Guyana.
The residents were also allowed the opportunity to raise questions at the meeting. One of the matters raised is the state of the road in the No. 41 Scheme, in Stanley Town. A member of the Mayor and Town Council of New Amsterdam, in response, disclosed that work on the road will commence within two weeks. On the subject of providing jobs for young people, Minister Trotman stated that he will be providing training for young people to acquire skills to make them more marketable.
During the engagement, Minister Trotman also introduced his Youth in Natural Resources Eagles, who were also in attendance.
