Minister Trotman engages GTUC over treatment of workers at BCGI

Honourable Raphael G. C. Trotman, Minister of Natural Resources, met with representatives of Guyana Trades Union Congress (GTUC) on March 8, 2018, to discuss workers’ rights in the natural resources sector.

One of the matters raised included the difficult and unfair conditions faced by workers from the Bauxite Company of Guyana Limited (BCGI) represented by the Union. During the meeting, Hon. Raphael Trotman noted the Ministry’s concern over the treatment of workers in the Bauxite Industry in particular and expects that the concerns will be addressed by the end of March 2018.

The GTUC was represented by President Mr. Lincoln Lewis along with The GTUC’s Branch Executive at BCGI comprising Mr. Ephraim Velloza, Mr. Garfield Brutus and Mr. Leslie Junor who serve as President, Vice President and Secretary respectively.
