Minister Jordan highlighted that no government can single-handedly advance a nation’s socio-cultural state on its own. He called upon political leaders, the private sector and community leaders to ensure that ethnic and cultural tensions do not split Guyanese.

The continued investment by the government in social cohesion signals the importance of unity towards the development of the country. In 2018, the approach to creating a harmonious society built on mutual respect and tolerance regardless of age, race, gender, religion or sexuality. Budget 2019 seeks to further build on the strides made by the 2081 National Budget for a cohesive Guyana.

“Transforming the Economy, Empowering People, Building Sustainable Communities for the Good Life” is the theme under which the 2019 Budget is based.
