Guyanese are being urged to remain vigilant and resolved. The call came from Prime Minister, Moses Nagamootoo, as he sent fraternal greetings to the nation.

Prime Minister Nagamootoo said, “on February 23 we observe the 49th anniversary of our Cooperative Republic of Guyana” … We have asserted our identity as an independent and sovereign state”

He added that Guyana has overcome major setbacks and has now fully joined the community of nations that are free and democratic.

“Our Guyana today remains peaceful, stable and orderly; with a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural population that is striving daily to realise the goal of being one, united Guyanese people, as one nation with a common destiny”

To this end, Prime Minister Nagamootoo urged all Guyanese to remain vigilant and resolved “We cannot return to the past. We must continue along the road of change and transformation.”

He noted that Guyana is on the eve of its Golden Jubilee as a Republic and is on the cusp of realising its economic potentials for unprecedented wealth with the advent of First Oil in 2020.
