DPI, Guyana, Sunday, April 28, 2019
The government has taken its services to Region 3, Essequibo Islands-West Demerara. In its effort to better serve the people, the ‘government comes to you’ initiative has been addressing citizens’ concerns in various regions with the recent one held on April 25 in Fort Wellington (Region 5).
Several government agencies are already on site, at the National Track and Field Centre (formerly referred to as the Leonora ground) in Edinburgh village, putting final preparations in place to welcome the residents of the region.
A number of residents have also arrived and are seated on the outdoor stands at the centre. The Department of Public Information (DPI) spoke with some of the residents in attendance who indicated that they arrived as early as 05:30hrs to avoid the rush. Most of them have indicated that they are at the outreach to address housing-related issues with the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA).
The various agencies which include services which fall under the Ministry of the Presidency, Ministry of Communities, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Public Infrastructure just to name a few, will be addressing the public at 10:00hrs up until 14:00hrs.
This is the sixth outreach held thus far. Several government ministers are also expected to interact with the public after which they will fan-out to various villages in the region at 17:00hrs to listen to the concerns of residents, to have them addressed.
The areas that will be visited can be viewed in the image provided.
