The Department of Social Cohesion, Culture, Youth and Sport refutes claim in Kaieteur News

The Department of Social Cohesion, Culture, Youth and Sport refutes the claim in a particular section of the Kaieteur News article, headlined, ‘Ex-con promising to develop multi-billion Jack Nicklaus golf course’.

The article which was published on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, purports that Honorable Minister, Dr. George Norton, M.D., M.P, has spoken in support of Mr. Aleem Hussain’s venture.

In this article, the writer is quoted as saying, “He even had Minister of Sports, Dr. George Norton talking about the project”; a claim which is undisputedly false.

The Department wishes to caution this media house on publishing claims which were not verified and calls on the outlet to either provide the evidence of the claims made therein, or retract it immediately.

An invited comment on Mr. Aleem Hussain’s venture could have been sought from the Minister via the Public Relations Unit within the Department or the Minister’s Secretariat.
