YIPOG Team meets Lindeners for public sensitization and registration engagement
A team from the Youth Department of the Ministry of Education visited Linden, Region 10 on Tuesday as part of a public awareness drive for the Youth Innovation Project of Guyana, YIPoG. While in the mining town, the objective was to provide a clearer understanding of the Youth Innovation Project of Guyana even as the date for the closure of acceptance of submissions is drawing closer.
The team comprised of Ms Grace Roberts-Simon the Project Manager, Mr Germaine Watson – Mentor Trainer and Ms Traceyann Massay – Mentor Trainer. They made appearances on radio and also engaged the Regional Chairman Mr Rennis Morian in addition to spreading the word about the project on 104.3fm.
This visit was another in a series of public interaction as part of efforts to raise awareness about YIPoG.
“We were able to meet with a few interested members of the public and engaged in discourse to sensitise them about YIPOG and registration forms were also distributed.”
As a result of the many expressed interest in the project, the team has extended the deadline date for submissions to July 15, 2017, as a means of encouraging more youth to take advantage of the opportunity to begin to live their dreams for a better community through innovation. Prior the team visited several other communities in Region 2, 5, 6 and 9 and this method of consultations is to create a level as possible an opportunity for as many youths in Guyana as possible.
More than 30 persons and groups have expressed interest in participating in the challenge and the team is optimistic that even more will register and submit proposals to be part of the challenge while benefiting from the Government funded $50M project. This project is aimed at stimulating youth involvement in Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriculture, Archaeology, Anthropology, Architecture and the Arts as well as Mathematics and spirituality based development, STEAMS.
