The projects were all drainage and irrigation related and are at varying stages of completion. One of the visits was to a brand-new pump station in Devonshire Castle. The station is 75% complete and will provide drainage and irrigation support for Devonshire Castle and its environs. In addition to this station, the pump station at Hampton Court is also being rehabilitated and upgraded with brand new pumps with improved capacity.
These works, in addition to a new office for the NDIA in the region, are geared towards improving the drainage and irrigation capacity along the Essequibo Coast. Further, with a stronger presence of the NDIA in the region, farmers can get more help in a timelier manner.
