APNU+AFC Coalition secures Region Four!


District 4’s results declared

Returning Officer uses tabulation process stipulated by Chief Justice

The A Partnership for national Unity and Alliance For Change (APNU+AFC) coalition has won both General and Regional Elections in District 4.

After several disruptions by the main opposition party, the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) through the Returning Officer for District Four Clairmont Mingo, has finally declared the results of the General and Regional Elections for Region Four.

Using the Statements of Poll as ordered by Chief Justice (ag) Roxane George during her Wednesday, March 11 ruling, Mingo has declared that in the General Elections, the APNU+AFC has secured 136,057 votes. A New and United Guyana (ANUG) gained 1,387, Change Guyana gained 919, The Liberty and Justice Party (LJP) gained 761 votes while the PPP/C secured 77,231 votes. The People’s Republican Party gained 389 votes, The Citizenship Initiative obtained 463 votes, The New Movement gained 128 votes while The United Republican Party secured 90 votes.

Regional Election results are as follows: –

APNU+AFC – 130,289

Change Guyana – 914

Liberty and Justice Party – 752

Organisation for the Victory of the People – 125

People’s Progressive Party/Civic – 74,877

United Republican Party – 98

The declaration of the District 4 votes brings an end to the long-awaited election process. General and Regional Elections were held on Monday, March 2, 2020.
