“Many of the doctors and so forth here in Region 10 can look forward to be part of our housing programme. Depending on your stature, depending on your employment, your capacity, then you will have the choice of the type of house you will want with us.”

The construction of the homes is the fulfilment of a commitment made by President, Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali during an outreach in the township in January.

Just about two weeks ago, construction of the 20 elevated homes commenced. The Administration also committed to creating jobs in Linden by having persons from the township employed in the construction of the homes. This is in addition to having all materials for construction sourced from the town.

This has led to an initial employment of over 150 persons, while fostering economic development by supporting local businesses.

The Government in its manifesto made a commitment to provide affordable housing for all and create 50,000 jobs for Guyanese. In just one year in office, the PPP/C Administration is already fulfilling its promise by ensuring the needs of Guyanese are met.
