First Lady, Canadian envoy, GWLA representatives discuss women’s empowerment
Georgetown, Guyana – (October 18, 2018) First Lady, Mrs. Sandra Granger, today, in two separate meetings, met with Canadian High Commissioner to Guyana, Ms. Lilian Chatterjee, and a team from the Guyana Association of Women Lawyers (GAWL) to exchange ideas on how to create, and advance, projects that empower women and girls across Guyana. The First Lady, who is firm advocate for the empowerment of girls and women, spearheads and supports a number of programmes in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Protection, other local, regional and international agencies.
Ms. Chatterjee was accompanied by the Canadian High Commission’s Counsellor for Development Cooperation for Guyana, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago, Ms. Janine Cocker, while the team from the GAWL included Vice President, Ms. Shellon Boyce; Secretary, Ms. Chandrawattie Persaud and Executive Member, Ms. Keisha Chase.
The meetings were held in the Office of the First Lady at State House.
