Residents from across the length and breadth of Region 2 poured into the Ministry of Public Infrastructure’s booth at the government outreach on Wednesday. Many left satisfied having received concrete results relating to the topical issues they raised.

Steve Roberts, a farmer, travelled all the way from Pomeroon to Anna Regina, to be the first in line at the ministry’s booth, to have his concerns addressed.

“Sometimes, we get problems with the high water, and so, we come to seek for assistance here, so we can get koker and get our place build up properly,” the farmer told the Department of Public Information (DPI).

Relaying how his matter was resolved, Roberts explained, “we had to do an application, and so they would get back to us soon as they process everything. They would contact us on our telephone numbers.” Exuding confidence as he looks forward to having the koker constructed, he said: “I trust that the request we made will come through.”

Meanwhile, an unemployed electrician from Anna Regina was able to get some light shed upon his application status at the Guyana Power and Light Incorporated (GPL Inc.). Olwyn Stewart spoke directly with Minister of Public Infrastructure, David Patterson about his issue and was given assurance that it will be looked into.

There were also representatives from the Lima United Sports Club who approached GPL’s section with hopes of getting prepaid metres to illuminate the ground at the popular sports club. A representative of the sports club, Tudar Chowbay noted, “we have spoken to the people involved and they said “yes”, they gonna supply the metre.” The sports club’s representative also spoke gloriously of his interaction with the GPL officials, stating, “it was a very good interaction. They were helpful, and we really appreciated it.”

The Coalition Government’s outreaches across the nation continue to produce astonishing results. Anna Regina’s engagement ties into the Granger-led Administration’s mandate of bringing its services to the people.
