Ministry of the Presidency’s Director-General (DG), Joseph Harmon has assured the public that “Guyana is a safe place”.

“I wish to give the assurance to all of our citizens, including those persons who are abroad and are making decisions to travel to Guyana, that Guyana is a safe place.”

During this week’s post-Cabinet media conference, the DG responded to questions about government’s position on the recent travel advisory from the United States. The advisory urged those visiting Guyana to be extra vigilant when visiting banks or ATMs, to avoid walking or driving at night and to refrain from displaying signs of wealth.

DG Harmon expressed that the Guyana Police Force (GFP) is “suitably equipped and staffed” to adequately address criminal activities.

“It’s a safe place to live, it’s a safe place to work, it’s a safe place to invest,” the DG emphasised.
