Indigenous communities boosted with ATVs

Toshaos of Yurong Paru and Karasabai received the keys to two new all-terrain vehicles donated by the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs.
The ATVs were officially handed over to the residents of Karasabai and Yurong Paru at a meeting last Friday hosted by Minister of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs, Hon. Sydney Allicock.Toshao Shevnarine Cyprian of Yurong Paru assured that he would utilise the vehicle to assist his community. Meanwhile, Toshao of Karasabai, Shawn Kartright, while accepting the other ATV, said “now I am so happy to have this transportation because it is not only for me, it is for all the communities.”
During his address to the residents at Karasabai Primary School, Minister Allicock remained firm on the proper usage of the vehicles that were donated to assist the communities.
“You need to care it… This is to give relief for transportation issues here. You might have a very important meeting, and you need to go to from this area to another. Here is where it will come in useful,” Minister Allicock explained.
Karasabai, located in the North Rupununi, is home to approximately 1,260 residents and Yurong Paru, a satellite community of Karasabai within the South Pakaraimas has around 400 residents within its environs.
