March 2 declared public holiday

March 2, 2020, the day designated for the holding of General and Regional Elections across Guyana has been declared a public holiday by Vice President and Minister of Public Security, Honourable Khemraj Ramjattan.
The declaration was made on Thursday, February 27, by the Ministry of Public Security under the Public Holidays Act and is expected to be officially gazetted.
With the day freed up, schools and public building can be effectively used as polling places.
The Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) has published the Official List of Electors (OLE) for the March 2, 2020, General and Regional elections with 660,998 names.
