Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce (Department of Commerce) introduces expedited processing and curb-side pickup of import/export licences for persons with disabilities

Effective March 30, 2021, persons with disabilities will be allowed to submit and uplift applications for import and/or export licences in a more convenient manner as an extended service offered by the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce. This service is in keeping with the Ministry’s objective of improving the ease of doing business and promoting inclusivity of vulnerable groups.

This initiative will allow persons with disabilities to submit their applications without exiting their vehicles. Staff of the Licensing Section will vet and accept applications as well as issue applications once approved at a special identified area just outside the Ministry.  Applications for import/export licences belonging to persons with disabilities will be processed immediately and can be available within 1 – 3 hours as opposed to the standard 24/48 hours. The primary requirement for persons desirous of accessing this service will be to complete a one-time registration which will be valid for 1 year. For more information about this service, contact can be made with the Director of Commerce, Ms. Nicola Namdeo on 225-2280 or via email nnamdeo@mintic.gov.gy.
