Sohail Tanvir of the Guyana Amazon Warriors and one of the most dominant bowlers in the HERO Caribbean Premier League (CPL) is looking to hand Guyana their first title. The left-arm medium-fast bowler made his intentions clear while speaking to the media during the team’s training camp at the Providence National Stadium.

“My goal is to win the trophy for Guyana, I played two seasons, we lost the finals one year, we lost the semi-finals one year. So, so as far as my performance is concerned, it is up to the mark but it only matters when you lift the trophy. Therefore, my goal is to lift the trophy” he stated.

Guyana, since the beginning of the CPL tournament in 2013, has made it to the playoffs and to three finals. This year, for the first time, two of the playoff matches will be held in Guyana. Shimron Hetmyer, Keemo Paul, Romario Shepherd, Sherfane Rutherford and Akshaya Persaud are some of the young Guyanese talents on the Amazon Warriors team. Tanvir is hopeful that when they are given the opportunity to shine that they will make the most of the opportunity.

“I think they are very exciting talent and we are really hoping that they will come and grab this opportunity and do well for Guyana and do well for themselves” Tanvir stated.
