New beds procured for the Juvenile Holding Centre

The Ministry of Home Affairs and UNICEF Guyana has collaborated despite the COVID 19 pandemic, to improve living conditions of Juveniles at the Juvenile Holding Centre.   Today the Ministry with support of UNICEF installed 10 New Bunk Beds at the Juvenile Holding Centre in Sophia.

Local Mechanical Engineer Mr. Andy Moore, built the beds which comes with a security feature that reinforces each bed to the floor. These beds will improve the living standard of Juveniles at the facility and will ensure a more overall humane environment.

New Beds at the Juvenile Holding Centre

The Ministry as part of its improvement plan is working assiduously on improving the ergonomic of the entire facility of the Juvenile Holding Centre. Presently, additional works are ongoing on the elimination of air pollution and improving the safe water supply at the Centre.

The beds were handed over to the Juvenile Holding Centre by the Ministry’s Director of Juvenile Justice Department, Mr. William Orrin Boston and team on behalf of the Minister of Home Affairs, Hon. Robeson Benn.
