New Port Kaituma hospital set for December completion

The state-of-the-art hospital which is being constructed in Port Kaituma, Region One will be completed by December, thus allowing for the delivery of more effective health service in the Matakai sub-district, Regional Chairman, Brentnol Ashley said.
The regional hospital, which will provide for less transfer of health services outside the region, is currently in phase two of construction, Ashley told the Government Information Agency (GINA) in a recent interview.
The Regional Chairman explained that this current phase entails the installation of the power generation supply, the building of the mortuary and the completion of the landscaping work.
The new $700 million hospital for Port Kaituma, will house male and female wards, a fully functioning operating theatre, minor operating room, maternal child healthcare facilities, dentistry area, laboratory, infectious diseases centre, pharmacy, radiology department, and modern storage facilities.
The contractor is R. Bassoo and Sons, and Kalitech is the supervisory consultancy firm overseeing the project.
The new hospital will be fully equipped with the latest and best medical equipment.
