─ National Grade Six Assessment slated for Wednesday, April 17 and Thursday, April 18
DPI, Guyana, Monday, April 15, 2019
The Education Department for Region 2 (Pomeroon-Supenaam) is ensuring preparations are in place for this week’s National Grade Six Assessment.
Regional Educational Officer (ag), Nicola Matthews told the Department of Public Information (DPI): “At present for Grade Six exams, we have already identified all our invigilators and supervisors. They were trained by persons from the exam division in March. On Monday, we have additional training for the persons who will be working in the riverine area, in the five centres. The reason for the additional training with those persons is that we want to ensure the integrity of the examination.”
Miss Matthews explained that with all the necessary staff being recruited, the only matter they have outstanding is securing extra fuel for the boats that will have to traverse the various riverine terrains.
The exams, commonly known as the ‘Common Entrance’, allow for students to be placed in various secondary schools across the country based on their performance.
The exams begin on Wednesday, April 17 with Mathematics and Social Studies and will wrap up on Thursday, April 18 with English and Science.
