TSA Regional Rep Pays Courtesy Call on Min. Ferguson

Minister within the Ministry of Public Infrastructure the Hon. Annette Ferguson, on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, received a courtesy call from Matthew Cummings, a representative from the Transport Security Administration (TSA) of the United States.

Cummings is responsible for the Caribbean Region and has been in Guyana with his team since January conducting an audit of the aviation sector.

The courtesy call comes at a time when Guyana is preparing to host International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Air Transport Conference from November 21- 23. Approximately 192 countries are expected to participate in this historic event. The courtesy call also comes at a time when Guyana will see the completion of the over US $150M expansion project of the Cheddi Jagan International Airport.

Joining the Minister was Retired Lieutenant Colonel, Egbert Field, Director-General of the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), Ramis Ghir, Chief Executive Officer of the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Leon Castello, Personal Assistant to the Minister and Cameba Bayley- Sundar, Aviation Security Inspector – GCAA.

The Transportation Security Administration is an agency of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security that has authority over the security of the travelling public in the United States. It was created as a response to the September 11 attacks.
