UNDP Rep. calls on Minister of Natural Resources

Support for Local Content Policy and Strategic planning high on the agenda

Mr. Jairo Valverde, Resident Representative, UNDP Guyana, yesterday called on Natural Resources Minister, Hon. Vickram Bharrat to discuss areas of mutual interest and strengthening relations between the two organisations.

Minister Bharrat and Mr. Valverde were also joined virtually by senior staff of the UNDP Offices in Guyana and Panama.

Discussions were centered on areas of cooperation and technical assistance for the Natural Resources sector. More specifically, support for Guyana’s Local Content Policy and strategic planning for the sector

Further, discussions were initiated for support to other areas of the Petroleum Sector, Water Resources Management and support to Sustainable Livelihoods. It was agreed that technical teams from the Ministry and the UNDP will work closely in the coming weeks to advance the identified technical areas of cooperation.
