Scores of Region 10 residents are elated as their long-standing land issues were addressed at yet another government outreach held at the Wismar Market Square today.

More than 300 persons awaited their turn to apply for house lots while others had their overdue land titling issues addressed on the spot.

Many said they were thrilled that they were given the opportunity to interact with their government officials and representatives to have their concerns addressed promptly.

“I applied for my title years ago, I paid $92,000 to the Housing Agency to acquire my title and six months went by without any title. Today, I just had to take a few steps to resolve my matter. I am an old woman with arthritis, and I am happy the Government can do this for us senior citizens,” a senior citizen told the Department of Public Information (DPI).

Officials from the Community Development and Enforcement Department of the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) informed citizens of their rights and what is required for them to apply for their lands, house lots and land titles.

One of the officials pointed out that many persons were not aware of the correct procedures to acquire their house lots.

“What we observed is that several persons are not fully aware of the documents needed, the time frame they would have to wait to get their house lots and titles. So, it’s our priority to ensure that persons leave this outreach with accurate information,” the official stated.

Linden Mayor, Waneka Arrindell said the mining town has land space and many young persons are anxious to acquire their own plot of land.

“What the Government is doing will surely get our housing issues addressed and I am very happy that the youths are out here today to grab all opportunities available related to housing,” the Mayor added.
