A stylish 70 by Shirmon Hetmyer and classy 39 from Chanderpaul Hemraj led the Amazon Warriors to their second home win; this time against the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots by eight wickets.

Chasing a total of 154 posted by the Patriots in front of a capacity home crowd at the Guyana National Stadium, the Warriors came out guns blazing.

The Patriots, who were sent into bat, got off to a shaky start to their innings due to a vicious blowing attack led by spinners Chris Green and Shadab Khan. Despite a heroic effort by Patriots’ Devon Thomas who made 62 runs off 42 balls, the Warriors were able to restrict them to a fair total.

The Warriors opening pair of Brandon King and Hemraj formed a 63 runs partnership smashing the ball across the stadium causing havoc for the Patriots bowling attack. While the Patriots struggled in the power play overs, the Warriors batsmen made use of the field and took the attack to the Patriots bowlers. Hemraj’s brutal 39 were accompanied with five fours and two big sixes.

Even with the loss of Hemraj wicket who smashed five fours and two sixes, the onslaught continued at the hands of King and Hetmyer. They formed a 32 runs partnership before King departed for 27. Nevertheless, the warriors pushed on continuing to find the boundary at ease. The assault was led by Hetmyer and skipper Shoaib Malik forming a 64 runs partnership.

In Hetmyer’s monstrous 70 runs, seven fours and three sixes were smashed with the last six, closing off the game and handing the Patriots their second loss of the tournament.

Summary: St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots 153-8 (D Thomas 62, Allen 33; Khan 2-20, Laughlin 2-43, Green 1-18) lost to Guyana Amazon Warriors 159-2 (Hetmyer 70*, Hemraj 39, King 27, Malik 23*; Brathwaite 1-28) by eight wickets and eight balls remaining.
