“We are preparing women for the good life!”

– Kamal Persaud reminds at Women’s rally.

Women have opportunities like never before under this coalition government. This is assertion was made by Kamal Persaud, former Deputy Mayor of Bartica.

Addressing the mammoth crowd of women gathered at the Parade Ground on Thursday, Persaud, outlined initiatives established by the Coalition government to ensure women and girls are protected and empowered.

Some of these include Sustainable Livelihood and Entrepreneurial Development programme (SLED) which provide grants to asset assist micro, small and medium-scale enterprises. And HEYS initiative that provides training for hinterland youths and has created over 2,000 small businesses.

Citing President David Granger’s vision for women empowerment and leadership, Persaud further disclosed that the coalition government has been preparing women for a good life through education, entrepreneurship and better healthcare.

“This is what the APNU+AFC is about; empowering women. The good life requires empowering our women,” Persaud assured.

She added that resources spent on women’s development and empowerment is well spent since they are the bedrock of Guyana transformation. Therefore, representation is important.

The women’s rally boasts a lineup of women in leadership positions. Among these are Minister Volda Lawrence, Minister Tabitha Sarabo-Halley and Tamara Khan.  “You must understand why it is so important for you to vote for the APNU+AFC,” Persaud said.
