Wismar factory to stimulate ready-made clothing industry

The local ready-made clothing industry is about to be revived with the recent launch of a new garment factory at Blueberry Hill North in Wismar, Region Ten.
Earlier in the year, the Community Development Council (CDC) received ten standard sewing machines and six heavy duty sewing machines through the Ministry of Communities. Initially, some fifteen young people were trained. As trainees grew more competent and confident and the demand for school uniforms and custom designed clothing increased the idea of a garment factory was born.
At the June 4, launch, Technical Assistant, within the Ministry of Communities, Shawn Austin, speaking on behalf of Minister Ronald Bulkan, reminded the gathering that the Blueberry Hill project is one example of the administration’s commitment to empowering citizens at the community level
Further, the gathering was informed that funds would be made available for the construction of a building to house the garment factory which currently is conducting its operations at the home of a community worker, Berneita Primo, Chairperson of the CDC.
The sizable crowd which turned out for the official launch was able to view an array of garments on display, as well as being treated to a fashion display by members of the community group showing-off fashional wear created by the Blueberry Hill group.
The Blueberry Hill CDC, having gotten off the ground with garment production, has indicated that they are currently in the planning stage of setting up a factory for the production of hollow blocks. They also plan to train more youth, the objective being to equip them with the necessary skills that will help them to become employable, or to start their own business.
