The Youth Department’s Exhibition and Display in Region Three, officially brought the curtains down on this year’s National Youth Week activities.

Director of Youth Melissa Carmichael-Haynes explained that today’s exhibition, hosted at the West Demerara Secondary School, provided students with an opportunity to learn about the plethora of programmes and funding that are available at the department.

She noted that while there were other agencies participating in the exhibition, the focus was primarily placed on the Department in order to attract young people to avail themselves of these opportunities.

Regional Executive Officer (REO) Denis Jaikaran J.P., said the administration’s involvement in the planning of the exhibition was a supportive one.  Jaikaran assured that the administration will continue to support the Department of Youth’ s activities in the region.

Students from various secondary schools within the region also visited the exhibition.

This year’s Youth Week activities were hosted under the theme “Empowering young people to foster national and community development through innovation.
