Ambassador Majeed visits Minister of Public Service

Ambassador of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana to the Republic of Cuba, His Excellency Halim Majeed CCH today visited with Hon. Tabitha Sarabo – Halley, Minister of Public Service and recently appointed Permanent Secretary of the Department of Public Service, Ms. Soyinka Grogan.

During the meeting, which took place at the Department of Public Service on Waterloo Street, Ambassador Majeed briefed Minister Sarabo-Halley on the state of affairs in Cuba. The Guyanese Ambassador made representation on behalf of the Guyanese Scholars based in Cuba and discussed expectations for the near future.

Guyana and Cuba has enjoyed bilateral relations for almost five decades. The Government of the Republic of Cuba provides scholarships annually to Guyanese students.

Considering the development that is forthcoming for Guyana the delegation discussed having students take up wider areas of study since most of the scholars in Cuba are in the medical field. The team also spoke to expanding and taking up scholarships for Universities in Africa, the Middle East and the Oceana.
