Brahma Kumaris courtesy call
GEORGETOWN, Wednesday, September 5, 2018 – In observance of Raksha Bandan, Sister Usha from the Brahma Kumaris movement tied the ceremonial string or ‘Rakhi’ around the wrists of Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo and Mrs. Sita Nagamootoo on Monday, September 3 at the Official Residence of the Prime Minister, Main Street. The ritual was done belatedly since the Prime Minister was overseas when Raksha Bandan was observed in Guyana.
The India-born Sister Usha, who lives in London, explained that “Rakhi” represents the bonding between a brother and a sister. It is a symbol also of respect and protection.
Prime Minister Nagamootoo thanked Sister Usha for the privilege of her visit together with other sisters from the Brahma Kumaris Centre in Guyana, and recommitted himself to public duty and service to humanity.
