With Cuba showing a keen interest in Guyana’s rice, poultry and forestry, the Havana International Trade Fair (FIHAV) 2019 could open more doors for local businesses.
The FIHAV Expo will provide an opportunity for the Guyanese participants to meet internationals as well as Cuban buyers and to foster commercial relations with investors from across Latin America and the Caribbean.
In an earlier interview with the Department of Public Information (DPI), the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Guyana Office for Investment (GO-Invest), Owen Verwey conveyed that through GO-Invest, ten local companies are preparing to participate in the annual multi-sector trade fair.
Verwey said timber, poultry, agro-processed items, pharmaceuticals, agriculture and tourism are among the products his office intends to showcase in Havana, Cuba at the expo.
Minister of Business, Hon. Haimraj Rajkumar will lead Guyana’s delegation. The delegation also includes representatives of several businesses; the Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL), International Pharmaceuticals Agency (IPA), Silvie’s Variety Stores, Guyana Marketing Corporation (GMC), Georgetown Chambers of Commerce Incorporated (GCCI), and the Guyana Office for Investment (GO-Invest), among other businesses.
The Havana International Fair (FIHAV), first founded in 1983, is an annual International Trade festival, and this year comes on the threshold of the celebration of Havana’s 500th anniversary as a town. The five-day fair will be held from November 4-8 at the EXPOCUBA Exhibition Site, Havana, Cuba.
FIHAV is the largest international fair for trade and investment in Cuba, represented by delegations from across Latin America and the Caribbean. The event provides an excellent business platform for new companies in the market and those already established.
In the framework of FIHAV 2019, the Fourth Investment Forum will also be held on the sidelines of the fair. It provides an excellent opportunity to conduct bilateral meetings between Cuban businesses and potential foreign investors.
The delegation departs Guyana for Havana, Cuba on Saturday, November 2, 2019.
