Fogging exercise starts today on East Coast Demerara
The Ministry of Health – Vector Control Services is starting its fogging exercise in Demerara-Mahaica (Region Four) today, on the East Coast Demerara (ECD).
Some 34 communities are expected to benefit.
Two teams will be deployed; one from Mahaica which will be heading down the coast towards the city and the other from Sophia which will be heading up the coast. The two teams are expected to meet in one of the communities to conclude the exercise.
The Ministry advises residents to open their windows to allow the mist entry into homes; to properly secure food items and cover all drinking water; to secure all pets and poultry and to ensure that persons with asthmatic conditions are housed away from the fogging droplets. The exercise will start at 17:00 hrs or 5pm.
The insecticide used in the fogging is environmentally friendly.
