Freemason Pro Grand Chancellor calls on President

Georgetown, Guyana – (March 27, 2018) President David Granger, yesterday, received a courtesy call from the Pro Grand Chancellor of the United Grand Lodge of England, Mr. Peter Geoffrey Lowndes, who is currently in Guyana to install Attorney-at-law, Mr. Roysdale Forde as the new District Grand Master. The installation ceremony will be held today.

During the meeting, which was held at State House, President Granger expressed his Government’s appreciation for the humanitarian work that the Lodge has been involved in over the years and extended an invitation for closer collaboration in the future, particularly in the area of ‘green’ development and issues relating to the environment.

The District Grand Lodge of Guyana, a District of 15 Lodges of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, is registered with the United Grand Lodge of England. Today, Lodges under the District of Guyana meet at three regular locations in the city of Georgetown and in the towns of New Amsterdam and Linden, and together they have total membership of approximately 500 Brethren.
