Govt. to improve water supply, health services – Minister Ally promises Lima Sands

Water woes at Lima Sands Primary School and within the community along with health services at the Health Centre are among issues that will be vastly improved, Minister of Social Protection, Amna Ally assured residents of Lima Sands, Region Two.

Minister Ally was at the time responding to concerns raised by residents during a community meeting at Lima Sands Primary School today. The meeting followed the ‘Bringing government to the people outreach’ that was held at Damon’s Square, Anna Regina.

One resident, Minerva Mclennan related that the Health Centre needs a resident doctor. She explained that in severe cases, persons experience challenges to arrive at Suddie Hospital to get the necessary treatment.

Another resident, Iknauth Sumeer spoke about the need for improved water supply and sanitary facilities at the Lima Sands Primary School.

Other residents raised the urgent need for upgraded roads and improved electricity supply.

Minister Ally assured the residents that their concerns have been noted committed to having them addressed by the relevant agencies.

Further, the Social Protection Minister commended the community on its environmental outlook noting that she is impressed with the community given that this is her first visit to the community.

She noted that the government has begun transformational works in the region and the community and asserted government’s commitment to continued development. This visit is a precursor for the imminent development, since it provides the opportunity for the government to identify areas of development, she added.

“This is not a community we have forgotten; it is a community where we have done work including a new bridge and a multi-purpose building which was done through the Sustainable Livelihood and Entrepreneurial Development (SLED) programme under my ministry. In this region, there has been improved drainage, much needed upgrade was done on the road to Red Luck, Anna Regina road and Sparta among others. These developments will definitely continue and advance once this government remains in office,” Minister ally explained.

The Minister further explained that David G Programme will also continue.

To date, David G Boats have been placed in the Upper and Lower Pomeroon to transport children from riverine communities to Charity. Minister Ally concluded that her government is caring and will deliver the good life to all citizens.
