Largest International Building Expo expected in June
The International Building Expo 2026 was officially launched on Thursday evening at the Railway Courtyard, setting the stage for what is expected to be the largest edition of the event since its inception.
The four-day expo, scheduled for June 25–28, at the Guyana National Stadium, will bring together developers, contractors, architects, suppliers, financial institutions, and members of the public to showcase innovations and opportunities within Guyana’s rapidly expanding housing and construction sectors.
Speaking at the launch, Minister of Housing, Collin Croal, said the expo has grown into a major national platform that connects citizens, investors and industry professionals while highlighting the scale and pace of the country’s development.

Minister Croal noted that the event, which is now in its 16th year, was conceptualised by President Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali during his tenure as minister of housing.
Under the theme “Guyana at 60: Building Strong Foundations for a Sustainable Future”, the 2026 edition will coincide with the country’s 60th anniversary of independence.
According to housing minister, the theme reflects both the progress Guyana has made over the decades and the forward-looking approach required to sustain national development.
“Housing and infrastructure are not just development priorities. They are nation-building tools. The homes we construct, the communities we design and the infrastructure we invest in will define not only our present but our future,” he said.
He highlighted the progress made in expanding access to land, accelerating housing development and supporting families from low, moderate and middle-income brackets to achieve home ownership, while simultaneously investing in roads, drainage, electricity and water to support new communities.
Meanwhile, the minister within the Ministry of Housing, Vanessa Benn, said the expo comes at a time when Guyana is experiencing one of the most transformative periods in its history.

She explained that the expo provides a platform not only for businesses to showcase products and services but also for employment opportunities, particularly as the government pursues its goal of constructing at least 40,000 homes within the current five-year period.
“It means that we need more architects, more surveyors, more carpenters, more masons and more plumbers,” she said, noting that the expo allows skilled professionals and small entrepreneurs to connect with potential clients and partners.
The expo is expected to attract both local and international exhibitors and will provide opportunities for homeowners, prospective buyers, investors and students to learn more about financing options, building technologies and opportunities within Guyana’s construction sector.
“As we move towards June 25, we look forward to a successful International Building Expo 2026, and we expect it to be the largest expo yet,” Minister Croal said.
