Message by Minister of Health, Hon. Dr. Frank Anthony on the occasion of Diwali

The significance of Diwali is manifold. Its true meaning is the celebration of light over darkness, and new beginnings.

In Guyana, Diwali is an important national holiday which is celebrated across all cultures. We observe the occasion by gathering with relatives to view the dazzling motorcades, lighting diyas or sharing sweat meats.

This year, as we endeavour to overcome personal challenges and grapple with the new realities brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, let us use the occasion of Diwali to guide our way.

Let us use the Festival of Light to banish the darkness in our own lives.

Let us use the light of the diya to help us to forge new paths, embracing the virtues of integrity and patience, practicing tolerance and fostering unity.

Let us use the light of Diwali to find new ways to triumph over challenges and as a nation, work towards prosperity for all.

Happy Diwali Guyana!
