The Minister of Health, Hon. Dr. Frank Anthony, received a courtesy call today from His Excellency, Alexander Kurmaz, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Cooperative Republic of Guyana. 

During their discourse, the Ambassador indicated the need for a memorandum of understanding between the two countries’ Ministries of Health. Dr. Anthony concurred that this will be an asset to the Government of Guyana, especially in the area of pharmaceuticals, e-medicine, oncology and precision medicines.   

With regards to the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Anthony inquired about the vaccine developed by Russia and the equipment used to facilitate faster testing of COVID-19 samples. The materialisation of this will aid Guyana’s COVID-19 response.
