Prime Minister hosts reception for delegates of 12th annual NTC

– “We have a nation to build, we have people to develop and promote and that is more important than which party we belong to” – PM Nagamootoo

DPI, Guyana, Wednesday, July 18, 2018

Prime Minister and First Vice President, Moses Nagamootoo and his wife, Mrs. Sita Nagamootoo last evening hosted the delegates of the 12th Annual National Toshaos Council Conference at his Official Residence.

In brief remarks, the Prime Minister said it was an honour to host the delegates and commended the work of the toshaos and senior village councillors and the improvements they are making in the lives of the Indigenous Peoples.

The Prime Minister said,

“You [delegates] must come out united … We have a nation to build, we have people to develop and promote and that is more important than which party we belong to.”

He reassured those in attendance that the government will continue to

“unite the hinterland with the coast. We will continue to unite our people and provide communication. They must know what is happening in their country. We are all one today and we are all one Guyanese people.”

Also delivering remarks were Minister of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs, Sydney Allicock and Minister of Natural Resources, Raphael Trotman.

The reception also saw in attendance several ministers of government including, Minister of Public Security, Khemraj Ramjattan, Minister of Communities, Ronald Bulkan, Minister of Public Affairs, Dawn Hastings-Williams, Minister within the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs, Valerie Garrido- Lowe, Minister within the Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Karen Cummings, and Members of Parliament, among others.

The toshaos and senior councillors also received small tokens of appreciation.
