Sidewalks for Bagotville Community
– 10,000 paving bricks donated
– sand to be distributed to construct walkway by GUYCO Company
– two concrete drains to be constructed

A promise made since November 2018 by Minister of Public Infrastructure, David Patterson was fulfilled on Saturday, giving the residents of Inner Bagotville, West Bank of Demerara much satisfaction.
The minister and his team, on Saturday, visited the residents and donated ten thousand paving bricks for the construction of two walkways in the community. The minister said that the initiative was also made possible through collaborative efforts from GUYCO Company.
“It is important that residents live in comfort, as the rainy season is approaching, flooding becomes an issue within this area. So, we have decided to construct an elevated walkway for you the residents. However, since the Ministry of Public Infrastructure and GUYCO Company are providing the materials, we would like to urge residents to practice self-help for the construction of the sidewalks.”
Minister Patterson also highlighted that two drains and bridges are to be constructed in the process since the residents communicated the need for the critical infrastructure. Some of the residents expressed their appreciation to the minister for a fulfilled promised and took the opportunity to raise additional facing issues in the community.
“We are grateful. No more floods! We, the people of Bagotville, will work together to improve this community,” one resident disclosed.
It was also revealed that a number of other infrastructural contracts for the community are in the process and are about to be tendered. Assurance was given by the minister that his ministry will go the extra mile to complete projects small or large for the betterment of Guyana’s people.
