DPI, Guyana, Tuesday, April 30 2019
Residents of the Upper Demerara-Berbice Region, (Region 10) have welcomed the latest government outreach, as the initiative was taken to the mining town of Linden today.
Speaking to the Department of Public Information (DPI), Linden Mayor, Waneka Arrindell said the exercise has highlighted the various government services and programmes available to citizens.
“Our residents welcome this outreach since it brings to the fore the vast number of services the APNU/AFC Government offers. Housing is one of our main issues and residents will take full advantage of the opportunity to address their housing issues. Our young people are ready and willing to build,” the Mayor said.
Arrindell said several security and health issues were also raised by the residents and according to the feedback received, those matters were also addressed on the spot.
“We do not have many Government offices functioning in the district, so following this outreach we are hoping to soon have those vacant offices established in order to better serve our residents. Our community is growing and we will work with the government to ensure we can provide those necessary government services right here,” the Mayor said.
