Residents of the West Ruimveldt community earlier today had the opportunity to meet and interact with Minister within the Ministry of Social Protection, Hon. Keith Scott and Georgetown councillors during a walkabout the community. Minister Scott said the exercise in the community gave him a clear understanding of the issues affecting the people.

“It has helped us because the people came out and we were able to interact with them. A lot more persons have been sensitised on the purpose of the government. A lot of questions were raised about the hosting of elections, there were concerns about housing and the roads. The people themselves were able to bring these things to us,” the minister stated.

The residents he said are happy with the work of the Coalition Government and are looking forward to re-electing the administration. According to Minister Scott, “they all very positive and are all solidly behind the government continuing the development in the country that it has started.”

He also indicated that the residents are waiting to be registered as the ongoing House-to-House Registration process conducted by the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) continues.

The government continues to meet with citizens countrywide to address issues affecting them. For 2019 alone, there have been close to two dozen ministerial government outreaches and community meetings countrywide.
